Bridging the Gap is an annual conference
devoted to sharing information about healing and integrative medicine.

The fifth annual Bridging the Gap Conference, April 3 & 4, 2009, is devoted to sharing information about healing and integrative medicine. Community members and representatives of many healing disciplines gather at the conference to learn from guest teachers and from one another. This year features a cutting edge view of integrative care by Victoria Maizes, MD, Executive Director of the University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine. An additional focus of the conference is a look at the present and future of food and healing by Dr. Maizes, local healthcare practitioners, food and sustainability experts and artists. The conference is a collaborative effort by the Montana Spine & Pain Center of St. Patrick Hospital in association with the St. Patrick Hospital and Health Foundation.

Community members and representatives of many healing disciplines gather at the conference to learn from guest teachers and from one another. Healing is a topic that easily can become dizzying. Integrative medicine recognizes that useful truths about healing come from a diversity of sources, and attempts to make the information people use reliable, understandable and dynamic. Integrative approaches create tapestries using threads from many disciplines to weave a healing plan with more power than single-source plans. The art of integrative care is to improve power without increasing risk and to blend creatively the areas where approaches overlap.
